6月18日 Babbling and Blabbing (11)正在给领导们讲解的穿蓝色队衫的就是传说中的队长小白，后面站着穿黑色队衫的是副队长小昭。再旁边就是我了。恩，等比赛完了就去修头发。 这些人，这些事，would be the best time this year.
6月1日 Babbling and Blabbing (10)今天和杨宝宝聊天，说到的一个话题让我想起了自己经历的一些事情。
记得一次在飞机上，旁边坐了个搞出版业的美国大叔T，我俩正聊的开心，突然T的老婆走来。
他的老婆：I've been looking for you. What are you doing here?
T开玩笑的说了句很American style的话: I'm talking with my new girlfriend.
他的老婆（对着我，而不是T）也说了很American style的一句话：Have a good time.

How much does it matter what message a city sends? Empirically, the answer seems to be: a lot. You might think that if you had enough strength of mind to do great things, you'd be able to transcend your environment. Where you live should make at most a couple percent difference. But if you look at the historical evidence, it seems to matter more than that. Most people who did great things were clumped together in a few places where that sort of thing was done at the time.

As of this writing, Cambridge seems to be the intellectual capital of the world. I realize that seems a preposterous claim. What makes it true is that it's more preposterous to claim about anywhere else. American universities currently seem to be the best, judging from the flow of ambitious students. And what US city has a stronger claim? New York? A fair number of smart people, but diluted by a much larger number of neanderthals in suits. The Bay Area has a lot of smart people too, but again, diluted; there are two great universities, but they're far apart. Harvard and MIT are practically adjacent by West Coast standards, and they're surrounded by about 20 other colleges and universities.

Nor are the insights of happiness limited to what is near around you. Unhappy, with your thoughts turned in upon your emotional woes, your vision is cut short as though by a wall. Happy, the wall crumbles. The long vista is there for the seeing. The ground at your feet, the world about you－people, thoughts, emotions, pressures－are now fitted into the larger scene.
